Description

Bruges is often called the Venice of the North, and today on your full-day tour, you'll discover why. You'll begin your day with an early-morning transfer from Brussels, where you'll step out into beautiful Medieval streets. The day begins with a 30-minute cruise on the famous canals, during which your guide will point out iconic bridges and buildings, giving you a great overview of this lovely city. After your boat ride, it's time to head to the Groeninge Museum, where you can discover Belgian painters from the 15th century until today, boasting plenty of Flemish Primitives like van Eyck, Rogier van der Weyden, Hugo van der Goes, Hans Memlling and Pieter Breughel. In the modern art section we find Paul Delvaux, René Magritte, Constant Permeke and Gustave van de Woestyne. Once you've had your fill of the art gallery, it's time to head up the Dijver. Here you can uncover a wonderful college of Europe, where graduates and post-graduates debate the future of the European Union. It's time for lunch, and we'll dine on a fabulous Belgian 3-course meal. After lunch, you'll head to the Burg Square, with its prestigious Gothic Chamber of the Town Hall. Your guide will point out interesting facts and relics of this ancient chamber, before leading you on to Market Square. Here, you can listen to the spectacular 47-bell carillon, one of the best in the world. Along the way, you'll also have a chance to stop at Zand Square and St. Saviour Cathedral. At 17:00 we'll transfer back to Brussels.
