Beautiful rooms, spectacular location, and perfect service. I just want to add that traveling with a baby is incredibly hard but the staff at The Post REALLY stepped it up a notch and made us feel welcome, baby included. They provided some nice baby essentials, such as shampoo and a little soft toy in the crib. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families. The rooms are a bit difficult to get to with a stroller but definitely doable as long as your stroller is lightweight and compact for hauling up some steps.

We loved the 1898 Post and Porter's house in the historic Gent post office. Prosecco welcome in the Cobblery Bar. Perfect.location beside the St. Michael Bridge along the Graslei on the Leiei River. Cool room, shower upstairs. The castle ramparts partly blocked our river view, but how cool was this old stone building. Easy walk to everything. Finished off the evening with a cocktail at the Cobbler Bar, where Victor, Tim, and Rubin educated and spoiled us with amazing cocktails. Husband had a Gibson with homemade cocktail onions. I hade a citrus forward drink with Jeneva, a locally invented alternative to gin, which I also tried straight up, young which tasted similar to Hendricks, and barrel aged which was reminiscent of Irish Whisky, but super smooth. Overall, beautiful, seamless experience. Everything was well thought out. Highly recommended.

Travelling solo with no intention of staying overnight in Ghent, I came across the excellent reviews of 1898 The Post on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try. It was my second visit to this beautiful city after almost 20 years, and the hotel made it even more memorable. The location is exceptional, right beside St. Michael's Bridge and within walking distance of the city's main attractions. The arrival experience was efficient and seamless, with a paperless check-in process and a welcome glass of bubbles, a lovely touch. The reception team, both the lady and gentleman who assisted me, were warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Thank you. I stayed in a spacious duplex suite with beautiful views. The room was spotless and full of character. I particularly loved the scent along the guest corridors, which reminded me of my wonderful days at the former Conrad Brussels. The Guerlain bathroom amenities were another appreciated luxury. Breakfast was another highlight. The quality of the food (less is more), together with the friendliness and attentiveness of the team, made for a very enjoyable start to the day. There were only two minor areas that could be improved. The air conditioning in the living room did not cool the space effectively despite being set to the lowest temperature. Also, the touchscreen panel used to contact reception was not very responsive, and it took three attempts before my call went through, better just a fixed line. Overall, 1898 The Post is a charming luxury hotel with an outstanding location, excellent service, and a unique atmosphere. I would happily return on my next visit to Ghent.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful building in the center of town. The location could not be better! Room have air conditioning and dispite being in town offered a quite peaceful night. All of the spaces are top notch, clean and elegant. Our only complaint is that the shower and sink are at the top of many stairs. The toilet is down stairs but you have to walk up to wash your hands. This may have been in the description of the room but we did not realize this situation. As heat rises (and we visited in June) my wife complained that it was very hard to dry her hair upstairs due to the humidity. Breakfast was plentiful and superb. We arrived via car and the underground lot is difficult to locate initially. We were able to pull up next to the hotel on the day of check out (our car was registered with the City of Gent- hotel helped us with this!) and load our car. Grocery store in the basement of the hotel is also a plus. Security for the hotel is excellent and the staff are friendly and professional.

We stayed for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and the hotel kindly helped us mark the occasion. The hotel has a very unique style, yet still feels luxurious, which made our stay especially enjoyable. We stayed in a maisonette-style room, so it felt slightly compact because of the layout, but the huge windows, high ceilings, and solid, elegant atmosphere more than made up for it. The room was, of course, very clean, and even small details like the convenient placement of charging outlets made the stay comfortable. The only minor issue was that we could hear a bit of noise from outside, but since we were tired, we fell asleep quickly without any problem. Also, considering the hotel is located right in the heart of the city, it’s understandable that some outside noise carries in. We also visited the bar, which had a great atmosphere, and although the breakfast buffet did not have an enormous selection, everything was delicious. The staff team was small, but everyone was friendly and approachable, so it was easy to ask questions or chat with them. It was slightly more expensive compared to other hotels, but we definitely did not regret choosing this place.
