Europacity Hotel
Brussels
Recensioner
I had a mixed experience during my recent stay at this hotel. On the positive side, I found the staff to be friendly, and the basic amenities provided, such as the in-room kettle with tea and instant coffee, were appreciated. I also noted that the linen was clean and the bathroom was functional. However, as a solo female traveler, the major drawback of this location is the extremely unsafe environment. The hotel is situated close to the Brussels-North train station, which is known to be a challenging area with a significant presence of drug dealers and individuals who appeared to be junkies. Unfortunately, I did not research the area beforehand, and I would strongly advise other solo female travelers to avoid it. Inside the hotel, the atmosphere felt dodgy, and I experienced several unsettling incidents, including noise disturbances and a lack of sound insulation that made it difficult to sleep. While the staff did promptly address an issue I raised about unauthorized people on the fire escape, the overall sense of insecurity persisted. Given the last-minute nature of my booking, the price I paid was very high compared to the typical fifty euro per night rate, which I feel is a fairer reflection of what the property offers. Based on the safety concerns and environmental issues, I would rate this hotel two out of five stars. It might be suitable for a budget stay if one is fully aware of the area, but the lack of comfort and security makes it difficult to recommend for a standard traveler.
Hotel is feeling it's age. Very old decor. Needs paint and work. Still cleanliness was acceptable. Staff worked hard to keep it going. Location is by train station so bit noisy and a bit of a rough area. Don't dawdle.
Consider the neighborhood before booking - it is in a convenient location, but I was quite surprised by the prostitution close-by. Reception was nice and let me borrow a charger. The room itself was tidy, but a bit run down. The worst thing was that my room was separated from my neighbor by a locked door, where sound easily went through. The best thing was probably the bath where I could relax.
