Saef and Mohammad gave excellent service. We celebrated our 25th anniversary tonight on the square and Saef arranged balcony seating for light show over flower carpet. Food was delicious! Would recommend 10 out of 10.
I visited this restaurant three days in a row during my stay in Brussels, and it quickly became one of the highlights of my trip. The location is fantastic, with a beautiful view over the Grand Place, and the atmosphere is wonderful both during the day and in the evening. The mussels in white wine sauce were absolutely delicious — easily one of the best meals I had in Belgium. Everything I ordered was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. What made the experience truly special, however, was the staff. Everyone was friendly and welcoming from the very first visit. They remembered me when I returned and always made me feel genuinely welcome. Thank you for your warm hospitality and excellent service. I look forward to returning the next time I visit Brussels.
Cave du Roy – Brussels Cave du Roy feels like Brussels on a plate. The food isn’t flashy or overworked. It’s thoughtful, rooted, and deeply personal. Every dish feels like it was created with intention, with real care behind it. You can taste that it comes from tradition, from pride, from people who understand what Belgian food is meant to be. I ordered the mussels Faro and the old fashioned chicken, Trappist monk style, and both were exceptional. The mussels Faro were deeply flavorful, delicate yet rich, with a broth that felt layered and comforting. Each bite carried that subtle sweetness and depth that makes Belgian mussels so iconic, executed with precision and heart. The Trappist monk style chicken was soulful and rustic in the best way. Tender, comforting, and beautifully balanced, it felt like a dish born from monastery kitchens, humble ingredients transformed into something memorable through patience and care. The atmosphere deserves mention as well. Warm lighting, intimate spacing, and a quiet elegance give the dining room a distinctly romantic energy. It’s the kind of place that slows you down and invites you to savor not just the food, but the moment. Together, the meal felt authentic, grounded, and full of character. Not modern for the sake of modern, but timeless, confident, and deeply satisfying. The only thing missing was my wife sitting across the table from me. In a room like that, with food this heartfelt, it felt built for sharing. Cave du Roy captures the true spirit of Brussels, and I’ll gladly return
We had a remarkable dinner at Cave du Roy. Even though located at a very touristy place like Grand Place, we had to search a bit to find it, the signage might be a bit more noticeable. We were invited and seated at once, even without prior reservation but it was a Monday evening and I imagine on busier nights booking is always a better idea. Cave du Roy turned out a real gem in terms of cuisine and service. We had Grilled steak, Duck breast with orange sauce, and Carbonade with fries. Everything was beyond tasty, and the size of meals was really big. The steak was served flambee, the duck was juicy and tender, and the carbonade was extremely savory. We accompanied our meal with different drinks - beer and wine, which were also excellent. There was a great choice of starters and mouthwatering desserts on the menu but we were so full we could not enjoy them this time. The atmosphere was great, with the cellar vault and romantic lighting. The music was nice and quiet, and it was a conversation-friendly place, a feature we highly value as we like to chat during dinner. The service was timely, discrete and polite, everything came fast and exactly as ordered. Our dinner was a real pleasure, we would recommend Cave du Roy and will surely return during our next stay in Brussels.
First time trying duck with orange and it was nice. Tiramisu was not bad. The inside is cozy and calm. Great atmosphere for a dinner. Location is perfect, in the center. Tried it in Sept 2024.
