Springtime is especially nice; some spots around Sainte-Catherine have cozy terraces that make you feel like you’re enjoying a meal in Athens rather than the heart of Brussels.

One thing I’ve learned living here is that Greek restaurants often fly under the radar compared to Italian or Lebanese spots, but that’s a good thing for us locals. Epi’s in the Ixelles neighborhood serves a killer grilled octopus if you’re up for trying something beyond the usual souvlaki. And if you just want a quick, solid gyro, look for small takeaways around the European quarter, where office workers grab them wrapped tight and dripping with sauce.
