We could not have had a better experience at Barge. The restaurant Interieurs are well designed, from the brick walls to the minimalistic decoration, everything comes together quite perfectly. The food was absolutely exquisit. I was amazed by how well every dish was executed, from the Amuse Bouche to the petit fours (don't even get me started on those petit fours!) it just hit the mark. Also, the kitchen was very accommodating about changing small things about the menu in case of intolerance or dislikes. The corresponding wine pairing was very well chosen. I also asked them to serve just one drink from the alcohol-free pairing, whichever one they considered best, and although I am a bit of a sceptic towards those pairings, I thought it was absolutely lovely. I also loved small things about the service, like them leaving the saucieres at the table in case you'd want more sauce; asking if you want more bread throughout the meal and also that several people brought their specific dishes to every guest and explaining them. That way, you get to know the kitchen staff throughout the evening. It makes the atmosphere feel very homey and personal. We chose the restaurant for a special occasion and were not disappointed by our night. Overall, you will get top-level food at a laid-back atmosphere at barge.
An absolute culinary masterpiece! From the moment you walk into Barge, the relaxed atmosphere makes you feel completely welcome. The quality of the dishes is mind-blowing, featuring surprising flavor combinations that marry local plants (like pine syrup and hawthorn) with nostalgic childhood flavors, like their incredible rhubarb and verbena ice cream. The sauces are just "wow"—absolutely flawless. Every single dish or starter is paired beautifully with either a wine or a creative non-alcoholic cocktail. The staff are smiling, passionate, and give detailed explanations for every flavor association. They are also highly accommodating with excellent vegetarian options. Don't be fooled by the elegant, smaller portion sizes; the 5-course menu is perfectly satisfying and leaves you completely full. An unforgettable dining experience. We will definitely be back!
Had dinner at Barge and took the seasonal menu. A very satisfying experience. The cuisine leans classical but feels fresh and well executed rather than predictable. Highlights included both white and green asparagus in season, several lamb preparations, coquilles Saint-Jacques, filet of sea bass, and a nicely done trout in a maki style presentation. Presentation was elegant without being overworked, and importantly the portions were generous. Everything was well balanced and genuinely tasty. The wine pairings were very good, and the champagne stood out. They also handled my zero sugar dietary restriction without any issue, offering a cheese platter instead of dessert, which I appreciated. The atmosphere is lively. The restaurant was full, noise levels are on the higher side, and the open kitchen adds a constant sense of movement and energy. This is not a hushed, formal Michelin setting, but rather a modern urban one with informal dress, a relaxed tone, and a vibrant crowd enjoying high quality food. Friendly and attentive staff throughout. I will definitely be back.
Barge in Brussels left such a strong impression that even though we visited a couple of years ago, I felt compelled to finally write this review as we are heading back to Belgium for a second visit. Some dining experiences stay with you long after the meal is over, and this is absolutely one of them. We had just landed in Brussels and decided to go straight to Barge for their lunch tasting menu, which turned out to be the perfect way to start our trip. It was a rainy day, and we were greeted at the door where our coats were taken, setting a polished and professional tone from the start. While the service did not feel as outwardly warm or personal as in some other establishments, it was efficient, precise, and clearly focused on letting the food take center stage. And the food truly excelled. Every single dish was beautifully crafted, thoughtfully composed, and executed with a high level of technical skill. One dish in particular stood out and remains memorable even years later: the langoustine, which was exceptional and easily our favorite course. It was balanced, refined, and showcased the ingredient perfectly. The rest of the menu followed that same standard of quality, with each course feeling intentional and well paced. The wine pairings were also very well thought out and complemented the dishes seamlessly, enhancing the overall experience rather than overpowering it. Each pairing felt purposeful and added another layer of enjoyment to the meal. Overall, Barge delivers where it matters most: the food. It is a refined, serious dining experience that prioritizes craftsmanship and flavor, and it does so exceptionally well. If you are visiting Brussels and appreciate thoughtfully executed tasting menus with excellent wine pairings, this is a place I highly recommend. It is absolutely worth a visit, and we are already looking forward to returning.
Barge has a minimalist and industrial atmosphere and it is lit by vivid colors of flowers. The Restaurant itself is not big, but quite wide. We tried it's 4 course lunch menu with no-alcohol beverage accord. The home made bread is quite nice with crunchy crust. The butter is quite fresh and light. I quite enjoy the truite, which is fresh and creative. The truffle is also quite rich in aroma. The duck breast is well coocked, but I think it will be more tasty if there is a little bit more sweetness. The first desserts are fine. The beverages are all very creative.
