Lovely quaint restaurant. We had the mussels and sole fish that was daily special. The dessert chocolate mousse is a must have while the coffee dessert was really strong. Highly recommend the mix croquettes !
Chez Jacques was a wonderful discovery in Brussels. A very authentic and atmospheric place – unmistakably Brussels, with locals as well as the inevitable tourists (of which, of course, I was one myself). Yet it has managed to preserve something that is increasingly difficult to find: the feeling of a genuine, traditional neighbourhood restaurant rather than a place created for visitors. After a long and rather demanding day in Brussels, dinner here felt like a small oasis and a true moment of culinary recovery. Excellent moules, a beautifully prepared sole, a very good wine recommendation, and a classic mousse au chocolat – followed by a 10-year-old Port, espresso and an outstanding Darroze Bas-Armagnac. Everything felt coherent, unpretentious and simply right. Good food, character, tradition and genuine Brussels atmosphere. Sometimes an evening in a restaurant is more than just dinner. This was one of those evenings. I left very satisfied – and considerably more relaxed than when I arrived.
The atmosphere was very good. Restaurant is packed when I arrived. Simple menu and always check out the menu of the day. Owner and staff is very attentive. Only comment is that the size of the fresh oyster is below expectations.
Amazing seafood. Top notch! One of the best fish we had around the Brussel tourist area. Loved the Ray fin and small sole fillet. Very fresh ingredient and tasted great without overpowering the freshness with seasoning. Also One of the better croquettes we had in Belgium. Good service and made good recommendations.
