We had the 6-course Chef's Menu and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Chef Paul de Groote's philosophy of letting exceptional ingredients speak for themselves really came through, with the seafood courses standing out as the highlights of the evening. We opted to replace the sweetbread with the Wagyu dish for a small supplement, which was definitely worth it. The half-glass wine pairing was the perfect choice, allowing us to enjoy the pairings without feeling overwhelmed, although a couple of the wines didn't quite match the high standard of the food. Service was warm, attentive and relaxed, creating an elegant but unpretentious fine-dining atmosphere. Overall, we left with the impression that LOF is well on its way to regaining its Michelin star. The quality of the cuisine is certainly there, and we wouldn't hesitate to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for refined, ingredient-driven cooking in Ghent.
An absolute masterpiece from start to finish. We opted for the 5-course menu (one vegetarian, one non-vegetarian) and were treated to a procession of beautiful, artfully plated dishes. The non-alcoholic pairing curated by the sommelier was exceptional. Unlike the sweet or bland options you often find elsewhere, these beverages were complex, sophisticated, and perfectly synchronized with the food. The standouts for me were the polenta and the parmesan-topped tofu—hands down the best tofu I’ve ever tasted. While the portions appear delicate, the meal is incredibly filling. The service is flawless: friendly, deeply knowledgeable, and attentive to every detail. The restaurant has a lively, energetic atmosphere, but it’s still perfectly comfortable for normal conversation. Oh, I’d almost forget. The bonbons we got with the coffee, the butter with Espelette pepper the champagne to kick off the meal all added to the fantastic experience.
LOF is one of the best restaurants that I have visited recently. Good service, good restaurant atmosphere and great food quality. Lamb is so tender and offered with reasonable portions. So as to other fish dishes, very impressive. Service is also polite and attentive to a good extent. Will strong recommend to future visitors.
We had a wonderful six-course dinner with wine pairing on a friend’s recommendation and really enjoyed the experience. The food was amazing and the service and sommelier were both amazing. Worth saving up for a visit !
We celebrated birthday here, and it turned out to be an unforgettable evening. The food was truly outstanding, and the service was attentive and refined throughout the entire experience. I have been to some fine dining restaurants, but it is rare to find one that genuinely makes me want to return. LOF is definitely one of them, and we will absolutely be coming back. Every course exceeded our expectations. We even found ourselves taking photos of every single dish, including the appetizers, which says a lot. The dessert was especially memorable. If you are a strawberry lover, you are in for a treat. My personal favorite was the lobster dish. The way they blend French cuisine with a subtle touch of Asian seasoning is perfectly balanced, enhancing the flavors without overpowering the essence of the dish. This restaurant truly deserves more attention in Belgium.
