We went for late dinner at 9pm. The place was busy but they found us a nice table for 4 upstairs. Enjoyed few cocktails with Syrian twist like cardamom, appetizer flavors were a little sour -- different than typical Mediterranean fare. Beef and vegan shawarma plates were good and finished with Atayef dessert!
The waitress were super nice and attentive. The food was excellent really. I really loved the mix plate because you get to taste a bit of everything. Can’t complain about the portions we had more than enough. The moussaka was excellent please try it. The drinks are very original and I enjoyed it, the Basma (hibiscus) was lovely. The decor is very nice and we can see the kitchen directly(oh and AC!!)One complaint is that the food took a long time to come. We arrived at 18 and we got our starters at 19! Otherwise everything was lovely
This a very pleasant restaurant to explore qualitatively & reasonably priced Syrian food. They have a menu with different options for vegetarians and meat lovers and a wide range of drinks. Clean, good service, nice food presentation, very flavorful but the only downside is that the interior feels slightly claustrophobic due to its rectangular layout which is why I opted for sitting outside on their terrace. Overall it’s definitely worth trying and nice for a casual date or one on one dinner with a friend.
Popular place. Best to make a reservation. But I got lucky as a solo diner and was able to snag a spot upstairs. I ordered the beef schwarma wrap. The flavor was good, but the fries were not as crisp as I would have liked and they could use work on the presentation. It looked like mostly mush — not appetizing looking in the least. The Jallab beverage was excellent. The rosewater is addictively good. Service was whatever. Typical Europe — the servers never bother to check in with you unless you wave them down.
Fantastic experience at Baladi tonight. The food was absolutely delicious. Would definitely return. Despite strong reviews, I noticed some negative ones. I can wholeheartedly say that those reviews were unfounded. The portion sizes and quality of the food reflected the price. Our server was extremely helpful with her recommendations and did not come across as pushy as some suggested. Really unique opportunity to try some Lebanese wines as well, which we enjoyed. Overall, a really excellent experience with some of the best chicken shawarma i have ever had.
