La bohème
Brussels
Beoordelingen
We enjoyed having dinner here in La bohème back in Apr while visiting Ghent. We had roasted potatoes, razor clams and avocado balls as starters, followed by fish and pasta as mains, and to end with tiramisu. Great hospitality and extremely friendly staffs. Overall a very pleasant and fulfilling dinner.
We’ve visited La Bohème in Ghent so many times, and it remains one of those places we keep coming back to. This welcoming, unpretentious restaurant with its Mediterranean-inspired cuisine is the perfect spot when you’re looking for honest, well-prepared food at fair prices. Seafood lovers are particularly well looked after here. Some of our favourites to share are the razor clams, mussels, Venus clams and the grilled prawns. All simple dishes that let the quality of the ingredients shine. For the main course, the grilled sole meunière is an absolute standout. Perfectly cooked, beautifully finished with butter and simply delicious. The seafood pasta is another dish we can wholeheartedly recommend: generously filled with fresh seafood and packed with flavour. Prefer meat? The tagliata, served with excellent thin-cut fries, never disappoints either. Be sure to save room for dessert. Whether you finish with a refreshing scropino or their homemade ice cream, you won’t regret it. Also worth mentioning is their selection of wines by the glass: balanced, well chosen and offering something for every taste. La Bohème is one of those rare restaurants you never really have to think twice about. If you’re in Ghent, just walk in or grab a table on the terrace and enjoy. The only minor downside is the acoustics inside. When the restaurant fills up, it can become quite noisy. Other than that, this remains one of the best value-for-money restaurants in Ghent and a place we happily recommend time and time again.
MUST GO- This place is phenomenal! We had one of the BEST meals I’ve ever had in all my 20+ times in Europe here! The lamb chops, the mussels with feta and the seafood pasta were absolutely incredible!! I will be dreaming of this perfect flavors forever. The staff was extremely attentive – including a blonde girl that served us-especially given that we did not make a reservation so we sat outside, which was actually so lovely looking across the opera building.
We had our best Belgian food here during our trip in Gent and Brugge. Muscles were fresh and nicely seasoned, the stew was very tender and delicious. I would eat here again if we had returned.
Starters were good, we had the clams and prawns, both nice. Mains were both very disappoining, the steak tartar was grey throughout (see photos) and was made with pre minced beef, texture and flavor not as expected. I tried to tell the wait staff I wasn't happy with the tartar and then the chef came and tried to make me come to the kitchen to look at how he makes it, he didn't want to hear any criticism. Paid and left quickly.
