Description
Day 1 We will pick you up at your hotel in Arequipa at 10:00 p.m. to take you to the bus terminal. From here we will take road transportation to the city of Tacna, where we will arrive at 5:00 a.m. the next day. Day 2 Once in Tacna, we will leave you free time to have breakfast. Afterwards, we will go to the bus terminal to take the bus with which we will cross the border with Chile. After an hour of travel, we will arrive at the modern city of Arica. To begin to discover the so-called North Gate of Chile, we will visit Morro de Arica, from where there is an amazing panoramic view of the beaches of La Lisera and Chinchorro and the monument to Cristo de la Paz. Then we will take a tour of the main monuments of this Chilean city: the train station, the colonial-style Post Office building, 21 de Mayo Street, Plaza Colón and the Cathedral of San Marcos. A curious fact: the tower of the latter was designed by the famous architect Gustave Eiffel. We will take a break so you can have lunch on your own and try the magnificent Chilean cuisine, and we will begin the return to Peru to see Tacna. Once there we will take a guided tour of this city. Did you know that until 1929 Tacna belonged to Chile? We will visit the Zela house, an 18th century building whose façade is made of stone and the Vigil passage, where the Legal Mansion is located. This was where the act of handing over Tacna to Peru by Chile was signed. A place with a lot of history! We will continue through the Municipal Theater, the bohemian San Martín Street, the Paseo Cívico, the Parabolic Arch, built in tribute to the heroes of the Pacific War, Miguel Grau and Francisco Bolognesi, and the Ornamental Pila, made of bronze from Brussels. We will also visit the neo-Renaissance cathedral of Tacna and continue in the parks of Alameda Bolognesi and La Locomotora. In the latter we will visit the Railway Museum, in whose rooms original train pieces are preserved. After the visit, we will move to the station to take the transportation that will take us back to Arequipa. We will drop you back at your hotels at 5:00 am.Includes
