Le Chou de Bruxelles
Brussels
Recensioner
A very pleasant place for a traditional Belgian dinner. Mussels are clearly the focus here — Visit Brussels lists around 30 different à la carte preparations — and the pots we tried were generous, well cooked and full of flavour. The atmosphere is warm and lively, and we felt genuinely welcomed by the staff. Service was friendly throughout, although the seating could be handled a little better: despite booking in advance, our table was close to the bathrooms and a drafty window. Ventilation from the kitchen could also be improved, as our clothes smelled quite strongly of food afterwards. Those points aside, we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The mussels were the main reason to come, and they certainly delivered. A good choice when you want a relaxed Belgian meal rather than something overly formal.
My first time in Brussels and I came straight from exam. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate my final exams. The food was outstanding. The service excellent. The music epic and the atmosphere relaxed while still cozy and exclusive in their own way. We had the three course dinner with starter, moules frites and dessert. We came starving and thought that we won’t get full enough of just mussles but we could barely finish our dessert. Make reservations as this place fill up quite fast.
Really enjoyed this place! They have a huge selection of mussel dishes- probably the biggest variety we’ve seen. We also ordered a sea bass and it was excellent too. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. What made it stand out was the atmosphere. It felt like a local spot, not a tourist trap. Busy, friendly, and just a great Brussels vibe. Highly recommend!!
We found this authentic local restaurant and absolutely loved it. The mussels were incredibly fresh and delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly, and we even discovered a great tea shop after enjoying a lovely cup of tea here. If you’re looking for a genuine Belgian experience with a relaxed, local atmosphere, this place is definitely worth a visit.
I really thanked my past self for booking in advance because we had an absolutely delightful experience here. We tried some croquettes to start, had mussels for main and made sure to save some space for the house made speculoos tiramisu. It was hard to pick which mussels to have with 30 choices but choose we did! The food was really delicious, the dining room had a relaxed vibe and service was really lovely. The restaurant was fully booked on a December Tuesday night when we visited so I highly recommend making a reservation if you don't want to miss out!
