This is one of the best highlights of my trip! The food is extremely fresh and delicious and is DEFINITELY worth the wait. The seating area is entirely outside but under covered umbrellas that provides shade during a hot sunny day or will keep you dry if it's raining. The smells of freshly cooked food just emanates from the kitchen area and the atmosphere from the sounds of the working staff just adds to the experience while waiting for your order.
Great place to get your seafood fix! I wasn’t as impressed with the croquette but the razor clams, sardines and herring were fantastic! If you love fish, cooked or raw, you have to try this place. The herring! You gotta try the herring! It’s currently in season and it is so delicious they have a festival for it. If that’s not your thing, the very friendly, funny and helpful lady at the counter makes choosing easy. Seating is outdoors only in a lovely square so you are at the mercy of the elements which on this day, was dreadfully hot and humid. Still, didn’t stop me from eating as much as I can and wishing I had more stomachs. Went at 11 am so no crowds yet. I believe I was the first customer.
Fabulous seafood. Great cheery staff. We went twice in the 3 days we had in Brussels. Not cheap but super fresh and well executed. Tip - ask if you can have the clams at the seafood store itself. Only downside is the seating in rainy Brussels. And a very limited drinks menu.
Really enjoyed this location. Very fresh fish. There are a few seats inside of the small restaurant/bar. On a sunny weekend there are some tables outside with bar chairs. Very nice atmosphere on the small square. Other guests behave very nice and well. Would go there again. Missing only one thing, reusable tableware would be amazing.
* Do you like fish? * Do you like an amazing atmosphere? * Are you tired of the usual restaurants and craving something more vibrant? Then you have to go to Noordzee (Mer du Nord) in Brussels. This place is an experience as much as it is a restaurant. Forget formal seating and stiff service here, everything feels alive, buzzing, and effortlessly cool. People gather around high tables, plates in hand, enjoying incredibly fresh seafood in a lively, almost street-market setting. I had the best seafood soup of my life there... okay, technically my first one ever, but still… it was amazing. Rich, flavourful, and comforting, it completely set the tone for the rest of the meal. And honestly, everything else we tried was just as good simple, fresh, and done right. What really makes Noordzee stand out, though, is the atmosphere and the people. The guys working there are incredibly friendly, relaxed, and welcoming. There’s no pretension, no fuss... just good food, good vibes, and a place that feels genuinely fun to be in. If you’re in Brussels and want something different from the usual sit-down restaurant, this is the spot. It’s casual, vibrant, and absolutely worth it.
